State Sen. Rick Brinkley (OK): Today’s Public Official Misfit

After attending Oral Roberts University School of Theology, Ricky went into the second most ethical profession in the country (used car salesman No. 1), the ministry for ten years as pastor of the Collinsville Community Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma.

In November 2010, Ricky duped the voters into electing him as a member of the Oklahoma State Senate. Prior to that (1999 to 2011, he was President CEO of Eastern Oklahoma’s Better Business Bureau, and then its Chief Operating Officer. (Reuters)

On August 19, 2015, Ricky was indicted on charges of using his senior position with the Better Business Bureau of Tulsa to embezzle nearly $2 million from the organization.

Ricky was charged with five (5) counts of fraud relating to the scheme and one count of filing a false tax return. The federal indictment stated in part:

“Defendant Brinkley devised and intended to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and obtain money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representation, and promises.”

Ricky is charged with diverting BBB funds into his personal accounts and is suspected of using its credit cards to pay for personal expenses.

All that’s left now is to see when Ricky will cop a plea to the felonies he is charged with. Hopefully, the sentencing judge will sentence him to serve his time at Leavenworth and order he be assigned to cell No. 414 so he’ll be bunked up with Clarice (real name Clarence) who is rumored to be a really friendly guy.
