Attorney Charles Brady of River Falls, WI; ethically insolvent

The state of Wisconsin presented Charles E. Brady with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Board of Attorneys Profession Responsibility (BAPR) found Charles guilty of the following misconduct.

In one instance, Charles represented a client and the client’s wife in an estate matter for which the client was the personal representative, and the client and his wife were the sole beneficiaries.

Charles requested and received loans from the client totaling $25,000. Charles signed interest-bearing notes promissory notes for the loans. About a year later, Charles executed several renewal notes for the unpaid loans, including accrued interest he failed to pay.

For each of the loans and note, Charles failed to fully disclose his financial situation to the client. Charles never made any interest payments or principal payments to the client for several years.

The board concluded that because Charles failed to disclose his financial situation, the loan transactions were not fair and reasonable to the client, nor could the client make informed decisions about the loans or renewal notes.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished Charles by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2012) Charles practices at 323 West Maple Street in River Falls, Wisconsin.
