The state of Wisconsin provided David Moss with a law license in 2009 after he graduated from Marquette University School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Davey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in 35 counts of misconduct involving 8 clients
  • Repeatedly took fees from clients and failing to perform the work for which he was hired
  • Failed to communicate with clients regarding the status of their matters, and failing to return fees and client files upon request
  • Failed to keep clients informed of status of matter
  • Failed to return unearned fees (cheater)
  • Failed to return client files upon request after termination
  • Charged client $1,000 flat fee to represent her in bankruptcy matter, but never filed a bankruptcy petition on her behalf
  • Despite never filing the bankruptcy petition for his client, Davey told her he had spent 10 hours on her case
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Accepted thousands in fees to pursue bankruptcy matters for numerous clients but never performed any services for them

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.
