Attorney Christal Irwin of Colville, WA; ethical gremlin

The state of Washington presented Christal Olivia Irwin with a law license in 2011 after she graduated from the University of Washington Law School.

The Washington State Bar found Christy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to deposit advance fees into client trust account
  • Failed to contemporaneously keep track of time spent on client matter
  • Failed to respond to client request for invoice re: claimed fees
  • Declined to refund any fees client claimed were unearned
  • Advised client $3,800 was minimum fee for taking his case and that an accounting of the actual time she spent on the matter was not necessary
  • Failed to adequately communicate the basis or rate of her fee client would be responsible for
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Christy by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. January 2018), Chriisty practices with the Irwin Law Firm Inc. at 358 East Birch Avenue in Colville, Washington.
