Attorney Darren Haley of Greenville, SC; slacker, loser

The State of South Carolina presented Darren S. Haley with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Washington and Lee University Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the South Carolina Supreme Court found Darren guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to adequately communicate with client
  • Failed to meet with client to prepare for hearing
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Darren!)
  • Failure to file client claims in timely manner led to them being dismissed
  • Failed to appear at summary judgment hearing on client’s behalf
  • Failed to obtain court permission to withdraw
  • Failed to safely maintain client file causing it to be lost
  • Failed to file and serve notice of appeal on client’s behalf
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to promptly deliver funds owing to client
  • Failed to take steps to protect client interests
  • Engaged in conduct tending to pollute the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Darren by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2016), Darren practices at 1007 Pendleton in Greenville, South Carolina.
