Lawrence was subsequently sentenced to five years in prison, fined $250,000, and ordered to make restitution of $1.7 million and 1,200 hours of community service.

Lawrence served two years of his sentence at Allenwood prison, and then was released to serve the remaining three years in a halfway house.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Paul by disbarring him. However, several years later the comedians sitting on the Supreme Court reinstated Lawrence the Convicts law license.
