Attorney Jamie Ray-Leonetti of Philadelphia; lying slacker

The state of Pennsylvania presented Jamie Ray-Leonetti with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from Duquesne University Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Jamie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a pattern of misrepresentations (lies)
  • Failed to file complaint on behalf of clients
  • Lied to client that arbitration hearing had been cancelled
  • Failed to advise clients from court of failure to file complaint with the court on behalf of his clients
  • Lied to clients no need for arbitration because defendants agreed to settle
  • Lied to clients they would receive $50,000 as settlement of their case
  • Failed to advise clients their case had been dismissed
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Knowingly made a false statement of material fact to a third person
  • Failed to explain matter to extent reasonable necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty and misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Jamie by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.
