Attorney Franklin Patrick of Portland, OR; ethical troll

The state of Oregon provided Franklin G. Patrick with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law.

The Oregon State Bar Association found Frankie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Represented one client when there was a significant risk that said representation would be materially limited by Frankie’s personal interests
  • Engaged in an egregious conflict of interest
  • Failed to obtain prior authorization to speak for his client
  • Violated his duty of loyalty to a client by acquiring what had been the interests of the client without validly obtaining the client’s informed consent
  • Client’s interests suffered actual injury by being subjected to a judgment obtained by Frankie while he was representing those interests in the Qwest and legal malpractice actions
  • Misconduct involved dishonest or selfish motive

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme punished Frankie by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Frankie practices with Corporate Lawyers PC in Portland, Oregon.
