The state of Oregon provided Margaret Melvin with a law license in 1989.

The Oregon State Bar found Margie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Prepared false court notice she was withdrawing representation of client in divorce matter
• Took no steps to avoid foreseeable prejudice to her client
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
• Failed to provide client with complete and accurate information
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Victim of misconduct was vulnerable

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Margie by gifting her with a complimentary 60-day suspension of her law license.
