Attorney Bernice Delorme Belcourt, ND; thief, repeat offender

 

The state of North Dakota presented Bernice Cecelia Delorme with a law license in 2001 after she graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law. Bernice was also provided with a law license from the state of Washington.

 

The North Dakota Disciplinary Board found Bernice guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Bernice’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed failure to consult with two clients to obtain their informed consent as to the limitation of the scope of representation

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Idaho Supreme Court punished Bernice by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.  

 

Bernice’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Charged or collected an unreasonable fee (cheater)
  • After agreeing to hourly rate of $125, billed client $175 per hour for out of court time and $210 per hour four court
  • Failed to reflect payment she received from client
  • Overbilled client for mileage (thief)
  • Billed to review VA Affairs medical records of client’s children when the children had never been to Veterans’ Affairs
  • Billed client more than 24 hours on one day (thief)
  • Billed client for time when she provided no legal services while client reviewed paperwork (crook)

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Idaho Supreme Court punished Bernice by gifting her with a complimentary 30-day suspension of her law license.

 

As we speak (ca. October 2018), Bernice practices in Belcourt, North Dakota.
