Attorney Lance Hartwich of Lathan, NY: ethical ogre

The State of New York provided Lance Richard Hartwich with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from Albany Union University School of Law.

FYI: Albany Law School is ranked as the 138th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Department Disciplinary Board found Lance guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act fairly with opposing party and counsel
  • Communicated with a person he knew was represented by counsel
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct that adversely reflects on the lawyer's fitness as a lawyer
  • Found in contempt of court and ordered to pay $5,000 sanction to the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection
  • Court found Lance had willfully disobeyed its order after imposing the $5,000 sanction and imposed an additional sanction of $500 along with a 15-day jail sentence

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Department Disciplinary Board punished Lance by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Lance practices with the Law Office of Lance R. Hartwich PLLC in Latham, New York.
