Attorney Michael Jones of Salem, NH; bigoted bully

The State of New Hampshire presented Michael E. Jones with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of Miami Law School.

The Judicial Conduct Committee found Mike guilty of the following misconduct during the time he was employed as a Salem District Court Judge

In one matter, Mike told the lawyers and others involved in the case he was “more like a marriage counselor than a judge” following the direct examination of a defendant’s spouse and alleged victim in a domestic-related assault case. (Eagle Tribune)

In another matter, Mike made inappropriate remarks to a defendant born on the island of Dominica. After hearing that the defendant Everson Lockhart was charged with possession of marijuana and that he also worked on a catamaran sailboat, Mike said, “the state doesn’t get this, but this is just all part of your culture, this stuff.”

In a third matter, Mike found it acceptable to accuse a prosecutor of undermining his authority when the prosecutor asked him to move forward with a trial. Mike then told the prosecutor, “Be quiet. Be quiet. OK? Hey, when you sit up here you can decide. All right.”

Jon then went on and accused the prosecutor of “stepping over the line” and threatened to have him removed from the courtroom when he continued to speak.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Committee punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2014) Mike practices at 35 Geremonty Drive in Salem, New Hampshire.
