Attorney Larry Buffington of Prentiss, MS; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee 
The state of Mississippi presented Larry Buffington with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Mississippi College Law School.
FYI: Judge Roy Bean was a infamous saloon-keeper and Justice of the Peace from Vale Verde County, Texas, who called himself “The Law West of the Pecos.” Roy was also affectionately referred to as “The Hanging Judge.”
In an earlier life, Larry sat as a Simpson County Judge in Mendenhall, Mississippi. It was during his useless tenure on the bench that Larry was found guilty of the following misconduct by the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance.
Judge Buffington issued subpoenas commanding the members of the board of supervisors to appear before him as he attempted to determine who leaked information to the media that he had hired former Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz as a youth court judge.
Two of the supervisors refused to appear and hired an attorney. The subpoenas did not indicate a title or cause number of any pending court action. Judge Buffington admitted that he absolutely knew the subpoenas were improper; however, he said he didn’t care.
Although Arrogant Roy didn’t care about breaking the law, the voters weren’t amused by his conduct when they voted him out of office.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Larry by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
