Attorney Douglas Ruhland of Eden Valley, MN; serial offender  

 

The state of Minnesota presented Douglas A. Ruhland with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from Hamline University Law School.

 

The Minnesota Office of Lawyer Regulation found Doug guilty of the following misconduct.

 

In addition to the three (3) instances of misconduct set forth below, Doug previously received five (5) complimentary admonitions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

 

Doug’s 6thbite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Failed to honor agreement with opposing counsel
  • Failed to obey court orders
  • Failed to pay funds to opposing counsel as ordered by court

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Doug’s 7thbite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to adequately communicate with client
  • Failed to file probate document by court-ordered deadline
  • Failed to appear in court when ordered to do so in probate matter

As a of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Doug’s 8thbite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Failed to respond to client requests for information
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Continued to represent client after conflict of interest arose

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.
