Attorney Don Gottschalk of Cedar Falls, IA; serial offender

 

The state of Iowa presented Don E. Gottschalk with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

 

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Donnie guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Donnie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Failed to file appellate brief on client’s behalf
  • As a consequence of negligent conduct, client’s appeal dismissed
  • Failed to advise client appeal had been dismissed
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to  him

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Donnie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Donnie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to timely file child support payment proof as required
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to  him

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Donnie by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand.

 

Donnie’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to file probate matter on client’s behalf in timely manner
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to  him

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Donnie by gifting him with a third complimentary reprimand.

 

Donnie’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Misappropriated (stole) client funds
  • Falsely reported he performed monthly reconciliations of trust account
  • Withdrew fees in probate matter w/o court authority to do so
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Donnie by gifting him with a second complimentary 1-year  suspension of his law license.

 

Donnie’s 5th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Made misrepresentations (lied) to trial court
  • Engaged in multiple instances of neglecting client matters
  • Failed to return full file to client after being discharged
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to adequately pursue client’s interests
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Donnie by gifting him with a second complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. December 2015), Donnie practices with Gottschalk & Shinkle at 704 Main Street in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
