Attorney Joseph Johnson III of Decatur, IN; convicted bully

The state of Indiana presented Joseph M. Johnson III with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from California Western University Law School.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Joey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as the chief public defender for Adams County.

  • Repeatedly harassed an ex-girlfriend
  • Joey’s affair with girlfriend took place while he was married
  • Joey lied to girlfriend that he was going to leave his wife
  • Repeatedly called even though she said she wasn’t interested in a relationship
  • During one call, Joey was crying and a gun could be heard shooting several rounds
  • Continued calling, testing and Facebook messaging her and even showed up at her apartment
  • A No Trespass Order was issued by the police against Joey but it didn’t stop him
  • Threatened to have her children taken away from her and used her probation office to get her into more trouble for refusing to continue relationship with him
  • Woman eventually obtained a protective order issued against Joey
  • Found guilty of one count of trespass
  • Ordered to never contact the woman; however, he lured one of her friends into his office to quiz her about the girl’s living and romantic situations
  • Used various info to track her down at her new home, driving to the location on numerous occasions in May 2015

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (February 2018), Joey practices at 147 South 2nd Street in Decatur, Indiana.
