Attorney Gwendolyn Anderson of Chicago; ethical goblin
The state Illinois presented Gwendolyn Dale Anderson with a law license in 1977 after she graduated from DePaul University School of Law.
The Attorney Registration and and Disciplinary Commission found Gwendolyn guilty of the following misconduct.
-
Cursed at jurors that convicted her client
-
Failed to take responsibility for her actions and inactions
-
Exhibited little remorse for her misconduct
-
Suggested an inability or unwillingness to conform her future practice to acceptable standards
-
Struck a sheriff’s deputy
-
Failed to properly serve a lawsuit on a police officer whom her client was suing for a wrongful arrest
-
Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that Gwendolyn had engaged in a frivolous appeal and ordered her to pay a disciplinary fine
-
Court of appeals referred to Gwendolyn’s arguments as a “a tiring series of unsupported excuses for her lack of diligence and added that he performance fell far short of the level of professionalism demanded by the court and her client
-
Was intentionally dishonest
-
Failed to advise client that his case had been dismissed
-
Failed to inform client that she had been sanctioned by the appeals court
-
Failed to communicate with client for almost three years
-
Attempted to blame her client and office staff for her misconduct
-
Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
-
By the time client learned his case had been dismissed, he was unable to obtain an attorney to sue Gwendolyn for legal malpractice
-
Failed to timely file a lawsuit on behalf of a client injured in a car accident, the client sued her for malpractice and won a $30,000 judgment
-
Gwendolyn sought to avoid the $30,000 judgment, by a series of actions including failing to provide an accounting of her assets, and transferring the title of one of her two luxury cars to her mother
As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Gwendolyn by gifting her with a complimentary 18-month suspension of her law license.
As we speak (ca. April 2019), Gwendolyn practices with the Law Office of Gwen Anderson & Associates at 6727 South Euclid in Chicago, Illinois.
WARNING: Gwendolyn does not carry legal malpractice insurance
