Attorney Arnold T. Phillips II of Honolulu; serial offender

The State of Hawaii presented Arnold T. Phillips II with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the Washington University School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Arnie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act in a client matter
  • Failed to timely comply with request to provide client files to successor counsel
  • Knowingly deposited retainer check into his business account rather than client trust account
  • Misconduct involved multiple violations
  • Briefly misappropriated [stole] $5,247.50 in client funds
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to provide client amended account for 20 months
  • For nine (9) years held his business account as a joint account with an individual who was not a licensed attorney in Hawaii

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Arnie’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received three (3) complimentary admonitions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Arnie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2018) Arnie practices with the Law Offices of Arnold T. Phillips II at 1180 Bishop Street in Honolulu, Hawaii.
