Attorney Gerard Jervis of Kaneohe, HI; ethical gnome

The state Hawaii presented Gerard A. Jervis with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Hawaii School of Law.

Disciplinary Counsel found Gerry guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to transmit settlement offer to his client or otherwise act upon it, and by failing
  • Failed to attend scheduled hearing on client’s claim
  • Derelict in client representation in Civil Rights discrimination claim
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to provide trustee-client with a clear written explanation of the differing interests involved in $100,000 loan transaction
  • Terms of $100,000 loan were not fair and reasonable to the trust
  • Provided insufficient security for the $100,000 loan and its vague and unclear terms of repayment of the indebtedness
  • Entered into prohibited business transaction with client or knowingly acquired an ownership, possessory, security or other pecuniary interest that was clearly adverse to a client
  • Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of misconduct
  • Made false statements to ethics investigators (Screw you, said Gerry!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hawaii Supreme Court punished Gerry by gifting him a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Gerry practices in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
