Attorney Michael Stewart of Miami; ethical dwarf

The state of Florida provided Michael D. Stewart in 2005 after he graduated from California Western Law School.

The Florida State Bar found Mike guilty of misconduct on at least two separate occasions as set forth below.
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with clients (victims)
  • Failed to decline or terminate representation when required
In one matter, Mike was hired by his clients to negotiate a deed in lieu of foreclosure. Despite Dave's representation that he diligently attempted to obtain this result, the clients were unaware of what steps, if any, he undertook to achieve this objective.

Ultimately, the lender initiated a foreclosure action. Although Dave indicated that he had successfully defended the action, it was actually dismissed based upon the lender's failure to prosecute. Put simply, Dave had absolutely nothing to do with the dismissal of the foreclosure action.

Dave subsequently sent notice to his clients that he was closing their file; however, he did not explain the significance of the lender’s dismissal, including the fact that matter was dismissed without prejudice, which allowed the lender to refile the foreclosure action.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2013) Mike practices at 200 Southeast 1st Street in Miami, Florida.
