Attorney Carlos Vanegas of DC; lying loser

The state of District of Columbia provided Carlos j. Vanegas with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from Catholic University Law School.

The D.C. Court of Appeals found Carlos guilty of the following misconduct.

• Conduct reflected total disregard for certain ethical standards
• Made a false statement of material fact to a tribunal
• Failed to inform DEA agents of whereabouts of criminal client who fled
• E-mail account proved he communicated with client and was aware of his flight
• Failed to advise client to turn himself in and, in fact, wished the criminal luck in safely reaching his home country
• Failed to respond accurately to a court inquiry as to his knowledge of his client’s whereabouts while serving as the defense attorney for a criminal defendant who fled the court’s jurisdiction

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the D.C. Court of Appeals punished Carlos by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Carlos practices with the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the District of Columbia at 625 Indiana Avenue NW in Washington, DC.
