Attorney Joseph Lopes of DC; moronic crook

The District of Columbia presented Joseph A. Lopes with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Northeastern University Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct involving deceit, dishonesty, fraud or misrepresentation
  • Seriously interfered with the administration of justice
  • Made false statements of material fact to tribunal an third parties
  • Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with clients
  • Failed to explain matters to the extent necessary to permit clients to make informed decisions
  • Failed to provide written statement of rate or basis of his fee
  • Failed to withdraw representations due to physical impairment
  • Failed to return unearned fees (crook)
  • Failed to comply with discovery requests

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the DC Court of Appeals punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Joey practices at 706 G Street SE in Washington, DC.
