Attorney Joseph Gegeny of New Fairfield, CT; ethical elf

The state of Connecticut provided Joseph L. Gegeny with a law license in 2003.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Joseph guilty of the following misconduct
  1. Failed to act with due diligence
  2. Failed to provide client with sufficient information to allow client to make informed decisions regarding representation
  3. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  4. Failed to adequately communicate with client
Joseph represented a client in a small claims matter. Joseph failed to file an appearance in the trial court in regards to his client’s case. Joseph did not notify his client of the court scheduled trial date.

Joseph also failed to appear for the scheduled trial on his client’s behalf. Moreover, Joseph did not advise his client of the disposition of his case. As a result of Joseph’s gross negligence, his client’s lawsuit was dismissed by the trial court.

Subsequently, the client fired Joseph and requested the return of his filed and the $750 retainer fee. Joseph failed to return the client’s file and did not refund the $750 retainer fee.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Joseph by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Joseph practices at 15 Newfane Road in New Fairfield, Connecticut
