Attorney Carol Essex of Littleton, CO; tax scofflaw

The state of Colorado provided Carol Elizabeth Essex with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from Creighton University Law School.

The Colorado State Bar found Carol guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter,Carol found it acceptable to deduct amounts from her employee’s paychecks for the purpose of withholding taxes, but failed to pay them to the Internal Revenue Service for at least two quarters.

In addition, Carol also failed to file personal income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service for one year.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Carol by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 90-day suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Carol.
