Attorney Barry Easley of Forrest City, AR; ethical misfit

 
The state of Arkansas presented Barry Michael Easley with a law license in 1974. Barry also received a law license to practice in Kentucky  in 1974
 
The Committee on Professional Conduct found Barry guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Provided prohibited financial assistance to clients
  • Guaranteed a $20,000+ bank loan for a client
  • Guaranteed a $10,000+ bank loan for another client
  • The loans took place several years before the clients’ fen-phen claims settled
  • Said client loans was prohibited by the Arkansas Rules of Professional conduct
  • Barry was indicted by a grand jury on three counts by the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas
  • Barry charged with one count of aiding and abetting social security fraud
  • Barry charged with one count of aiding and abetting theft of government property
  • Barry charged with one count of making a false statement
  • Subsequently, the criminal charges against Barry were dismissed
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Professional Conduct Committee punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary caution
 
As we speak (ca. September 2022), Barry continues to practice in the Forrest City, Arkansas area.
