The state of Texas presented John William Settle with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

 

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to promptly respond to client information requests
  • Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary caution.

 

Johnny’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to timely lodge the record in appellate matter on client’s behalf
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to provide competent representation (ignoramus)
