Attorney Sean Cannon of Scottsdale, AZ; ethical misfit

The state of Arizona presented Sean Cannon with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from Arizona State University Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Sean guilty of the following misconduct.

At one time, Sean was a member and manager of a law firm that had offices in Tucson and Phoenix, which subsequently went into receivership. The receivership order prohibited Sean from negotiating any firm funds without the prior written consent of the party that sought the receivership.

Shortly thereafter, Sean deposited five checks totaling $9,000 without the consent of the plaintiff in the receivership matter.

In another matter, Sean employed paralegal-collectors in his office whom benefited from a compensation program that paid them bonuses based partly on the lawyer’s fees the paralegal actually collected. Put simply, Sean knowingly violated the rule prohibiting the sharing of legal fees with non-attorneys.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Sean by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. June 2013) Sean practices with the Cannon Law Firm PLLC at 4300 North Miller Road in Scottsdale, Arizona.
