Attorney James Eckley of Phoenix; ethically deprived

The state of Arizona presented James R. Eckley with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Oregon Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found James guilty of engaging in the following misconduct

To supplement his income as an attorney, James owns a company that provides technical assistance to individuals with home construction defects.

Subsequently, James represented two clients who had construction defect issues. While representing these two clients, James’ company was hired to perform services for each client regarding the defects.

James failed to inform each client, in writing, that he owned the construction defect company and did not advise them to seek independent counsel regarding his ownership. Jimmy found it acceptable to conceal this relevant information from his clients (victims), which allowed him to collect attorney fees for himself and also fees for the construction defect company he owned.

It’s rumored that in the Phoenix area that James is referred to as “Double Dipping Jimmy.”

As one would suspect, this wasn’t James’ 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined on at least two occasions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished James by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. October 2012) James practices with Eckley & Associates PC at 3602 East Campbell in Phoenix, Arizona.

Warning: James doesn’t carry legal malpractice insurance
