Attorney Paul Crane of Phoenix, AZ; repeat offender

The state of Arizona presented Paul M. Crane with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

The Arizona State Bar found Paulie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Paulie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Paulie represented a man who was convicted and ordered jailed pending sentencing
  • Paulie obtained one or more powers of attorney from the client to manage the client’s financial affairs, including his home and vehicle
  • Paulie used the documents to take control of the client’s three bank accounts
  • He paid himself approximately $7,000 in fees owed to him by the client from the accounts when there were insufficient funds available to meet all of the client’s financial obligations
  • Due to lack of payments of the client’s mortgage, foreclosure proceedings ensued and the client lost his home
  • Paulie failed to advise the client of the potential conflict involved and failed to advise the client to seek independent counsel regarding the decision to give him authority over his financial affairs at a time when the client owed legal fees to him

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

Paulie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Paulie agreed to represent a client in a consumer rights matter and collected $4,200 in fees from her
  • He abandoned the client and his practice
  • Failed to notify the client his law license was administratively suspended for non-payment of dues
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Paulie!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), Stevie practices his so-called practice of law at 101 West Pierson Street in Phoenix, Arizona.
