Gov. Rick Perry: Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Gov. Rick Perry
Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield”Award Winner

Gov. Rick Perry has dedicated a substantial amount of his time a public official proving his worth as one of America’s Least Appreciated Standup Comedians.

Shortly after the unfortunate explosion of a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, there were many news reports on the lax and/or non-existent oversight of chemical plants the plant that exploded.

On April 24, 2013, Jack Ohman, editorial cartoonist for the Sacramento Bee decided to publish a cartoon about the explosion and Gov. Rick Perry’s incessant rants about low taxes and regulations in Texas.

Jack’s cartoon merely shows a caricature of Gov. Perry saying “Business is booming in Texas,” with an explosion with the word “BOOM!” and a banner behind Perry that says, Low Tax, Low Regs.” A copy of the Ohman cartoon can be found at http://tinyurl.com/bq8sjzy.

In an effort to further his status as a Standup Comedian, Gov. Perry feigned disgust at Ohman’s cartoon demanding an apology from the Sacramento Bee. In a letter to the Sacramento Bee’s editor, the Comic said it, “was with extreme disgust and disappointment I viewed your recent cartoon.”

Seemingly, the Comic didn’t take offense to the hundreds of cartoons mocking him as a Certified Moron and/or Intellectual Dwarf. Apparently, the Comic is a true believer in those famous words spoken many years ago by Yogi Berra, “The truth will set you free,” or was it “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

After Ricky leaves office, we’ll likely find him doing a gig at the Capitol City Comedy Club at 8120 Research Blvd. in downtown Austin.

Congrats Ricky; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s Least Appreciated “Standup Comedians”; you are far too humble.
