Judge Antonio Inacio of Clark, NJ; ethical gremlin

The state of New Jersey provided Antonio Inacio with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Temple University Law School.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Gerry guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Tony improperly intervened when a councilman’s daughter was arrested for possession of alcohol. The teenage girl was a senior at Arthur L. Johnson high school and was arrested after police broke up a party in early 2013. The girl was required to attend two AA meetings as part of her sentence by Judge Inacio.

Judge Inacio then engaged in an improper ex parte meeting with the girl and her mother and discussed his real life experience with underage drinking and then, on official judicial letterhead, suggested that that meeting serve in place of the AA meeting requirement.

The unnamed councilman sought out Judge Inacio in order to discuss his daughter’s arrest, and specifically the requirement that she attend AA meetings. Inacio responded by saying he would look into the appropriate punishment and then volunteered to personally speak with the teenager.

Judge Inacio then invited the councilman’s wife and daughter to the Clark Municipal Court, where he "immediately ushered the wife and daughter back to his chambers, and spoke to the daughter about his real life experience with underage drinking and driving.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Judge Inacio by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. March 2015), Tony continues to sit as a Municipal Court judge in Clark and Scotch Plains.
