Judge Jerome Richards of Canton, NY; vindictive loser

The state of New York presented Jerome Richards with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the Vermont Law School.

Over the past thirty years, Jerry has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for 26 of the last 30 years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater St. Lawrence County area was about to offer Jerry a good paying job.

In early February 2015, accident victim Eva Waters filed an ethics complaint against Judge Richards with the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct.

Eva said she decided to file the complaint against Jerry because she felt “there’s been a grave injustice to myself, to my family and to the public.”

Almost a year has passed since Eva was suffered severe injuries after she was hit head-on by an alleged drunk drive who had previous been arrested multiple times for driving while intoxicated (DWI).

In October 2014, Judge Richard dismissed vehicular assault charges against Joseph Back of Hogansburg by ruling that Mohawk Tribal Police had no authority to detain Mr. Beck for State Police after the March 2014 accident because the scene was a quarter mile outside Mohawk territory. This ruling seems to be asinine at best!

Evan is continuing to recover from her injuries with medical bills totaling $500,000. She filed a six-page ethics complaint with the judicial commission, claiming in part that Judge Richards may well have dismissed the criminal charges against Mr. Back “out of revenge” towards DA Mary Rain.

Judge Richards’ dismissal of the Back criminal complaint took place three months after DA Mary Rain’s probe into the use of drug asset forfeiture funds by top county officials, including Judge Richard.

All that remains to be seen now is if the enablers of Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission take any action against Judge Richard.

As we speak (ca. February 2015), Judge Richards continues to sit as a Fourth District Court judge in St. Lawrence County, New York.
