Judge Bradley Lunsford of Bellefonte, PA; ethical misfit

The state of Pennyslvania presented Bradley Lunsford with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Law School.

The Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board has received a complaint charging Judge Bennington with the following misconduct.

Bradley sits as a Centre County Judge in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Centre County officials recently (ca. January 2015) raised questions about Judge Lunsford’s handling and preservation of court documents.

Centre County Solicitor Louis Glantz said that Lunsford removed documents from the public files of several criminal cases. Each of the cases included an attempt to remove Lunsford as the presiding judge in those cases.

In one of the cases, Lunsford had also previously been accused of bias and giving prosecutor’s preferential treatment by defense attorney Bernard Cantorna. In that particular case, Lunsford sentenced a State College woman, Jalene McClure, to up to 20 year sin prison following her convicting for aggravated assault of a child.

The documents in the McClure case that Judge Lunsford reportedly attempted to remove from the prothonotary’s office relate to Cantorna's claim that the judge had an unprofessional relationship with the office of Centre County District Attorney

Mr. Cantorna claimed that Judge Lunsford gave preferential treatment to Parks Miller and her team during the McClure trial, granting unfounded objections and giving the appearance of bias towards the prosecution. He supports these allegations with phone records for Lunsford, Parks Miller and several assistant district attorneys, which Cantorna obtained through a Right to Know request.

Phone records establish that Judge texted assistant district attorneys Lindsay Foster and Nathan Boob hundreds of time over the several months that the McClure case was working its way through the court. The records also show less frequent phone contact between Lunsford and Parks Miller.

All that remains now is to what if any punishment is meted out to Judge Lunsford for his misconduct by the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
