Attorney Nancy Raynor of Malvern, PA; ethical misfit

The state of Ohio presented Nancy Kahl Raynor with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Case Western University of Law School.

In one matter, Nancy represented the defendants in a case involving medical malpractice. During the trial in the case, Nancy knowingly violated specific orders Judge Paul Panepinto as to what or what could not be presented as evidence in the case.

Judge Panepinto ruled that Nancy improperly allowed an expert witness to refer to a lung cancer patient’s history of smoking during the jury trial. As a result of Nancy’s misconduct, Judge Panepinto declared a mistrial. In the following retrial, jurors awarded $2 million to the cancer patient’s daughter.

After the second trial, Judge Panepinto sanctioned Nancy by ordering that she pay the attorney fees. The $1 million is for attorney fees and would be paid to the cancer victim’s daughter and her lawyers.

Shortly after the $1 million sanction was imposed, the plaintiff’s layers filed a writ of execution in an effort to obtain assets from Nancy. They are also seeking information regarding Nancy’s business bank accounts and personal assets.

Obviously, Nancy should have obeyed the orders put forth by Judge Panepinto. However, she obviously said to the judge under her breath “Up yours!” Therefore, the $1 million sanction is well deserved.

As we speak (ca. January 2015), Nancy practices with Raynor & Associates at 5 Great Valley Parkway in Malvern, Pennsylvania, which is about 28 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
