Attorney Thomas Hoffman of Le Mars, IA; repeat offender

 

The state of Iowa presented Thomas J. Hoffman with a law license in 1970.

 

The Iowa Supreme Court Disciplinary Board found Alan guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Tommy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to decline representation when required to so act
  • Failed to show respect for judicial rulings
  • Made personal derogatory statements about opposing counsel
  • Communicated with a party he knew was represented by counsel

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Tommy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

  • Attempted to collect a clearly excessive fee
  • Misled Worker’s Compensation Bureau in attempt to collect excessive fee
  • Attempted to misrepresent the truth before at disciplinary hearing (Up yours, said Tommy!
  • Despite only working 20 hours on workers compensation case, Tommy demanded fees of $35,000 or $1,750 an hour

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. January 2015), Tommy practices at 20 Central Avenue in Le Mars, Iowa.
