Attorney Douglas Baxter of Provo; ethical elf

The state of Utah presented Douglas A. Baxter with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) Law School.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Doug guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct by assisting or inducing another to do so or through the acts of another
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to advise client of status of case
  • Failed to discuss effect of dismissal of case w/o prejudice to client
  • Failed to provide clear communication to client re: fees
  • Misconduct caused actual damage to be suffered by client

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2014), Doug practices 3325 North University Avenue in Provo, Utah.
