Attorney Wendell Miller of Jennings, LA; ethical leprechaun

The state of Louisiana provided Wendell R. Miller with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from California Western Law School.

Wendell’s misconduct took place while his was sitting as a Jefferson Davis Parish judge in Jennings, Louisiana. Therefore, the Judicial Commission of Louisiana found Wendell guilty of the following misconduct.

Wendell found it acceptable to engage in a sexual relationship with his court appointed secretary. Eventually the relationship soured and that woman filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the state. The State later settled the case for $50,000.

In addition, Wendell failed to withdraw as the judge on his lover’s (court secretary) pending divorce case. Wendell improperly used official court stationery to recommend his lover for a new job at a law firm.

Lastly, Wendell had sex with the court secretary on a weekly basis in his court chambers.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Wendell by ordering him removed from the bench; however, they took no action against his ability to earn a dishonest living practicing law.

As we speak (ca. December 2014), Wendell practices with Wendell R. Miller PLC at 241 North Main Street in Jennings, Louisiana.
