Judge A. Gregory Rainville of St. Albans, VT; arrogant loser

The state of Vermont presented A. Gregory Rainville with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Toledo Law School.

Former Gov. Jim Douglas was duped into appointing Rainville as a Superior Court Judge in 2006. Rainville didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater St. Albans area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Vermont Judicial Conduct Board found Judge Rainville guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Judge Rainville was assigned to a hear a case involving Bret Greenstein who was seeking to modify the $5,205 monthly spousal support allowed in his divorce. Greenstein was represented by attorney Marsha Meekins who is the one who filed the ethics complaint against Judge Rainville.

Greenstein asked for the modification after his ex-wife, Kristina Greenstein started to live with her fiancé full-time and they had purchased a house. The divorce agreement allowed for a review if Kristina got married or started to co-habitate.

The main contention was whether Judge Rainville advised Bret Greenstein that he was required to attend a January 2012 hearing. Court records prove that Kristina was told to attend, but that Bret was not. Attorney Meekins then asked for a postponement of the hearing because Bret would be traveling back to his job in China.

Judge Rainville refused Meekins’ request and then dismissed the support modification case on the grounds that Bret failed to attend the hearing as ordered. Subsequently, the Vermont Supreme Court overturned Rainville’s asinine dismissal of Bret’s modification motion.

The cost of Rainville’s folly in failing to provide Mr. Greenstein with the due process notice he was entitled too, is of no consequence to Arrogant Greg since he isn’t paying for the costs associated with the Supreme Court’s reversal of his moronic ruling.

As a result of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Vermont Supreme Court punished Rainville by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2014), Judge Rainville remains sitting as a Supreme Court Judge in St. Albans, Vermont.
