Attorney Winfield Little, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; ethical dwarf

The state of Louisiana presented Winfield E. Little, Jr. with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the Louisiana State University (LSU).

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Winfield guilty of the following misconduct.

Winfield found it acceptable to retain a fee he knew was in excess of statutory limits in a workman compensation matter. Subsequently, Winfield’s client was forced to file a lawsuit to collect the excess fee Winfield paid to himself.

Making matters worse, Winfield refused to acknowledge that he had done anything wrong. In fact, he had the chutzpah to argue that the illegal fee arrangement was customary in his region of the state. Put simply, Winfield claimed that there were many, many more lawbreakers billing for and/or collecting illegal fees in the Lake Charles area.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Winfield by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2014) Winfield practices at 1616 Broad Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
