Sen. Rand Paul says: Civilization will collapse if fetuses aren’t afforded personhood rights

During a recent (August 2014) interview with the American Liberty Association, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he believed that fetuses deserved personhood rights, which of course would make all abortions illegal.

Rand then went on to tell the low I.Q. folks who actually tune in to listen to the crap emanating from the American Liberty Association the following.

  • “And the interesting this is you’ve got a one-pound baby, everybody acknowledges that that baby has rights, the Bill of Rights applies to that baby and nobody can hurt that baby.”
  • “But a week before, even a full-term seven-pound baby has no rights, according to the way people are looking at it, and I think that is a big mistake.”

Rand went on to tell the listeners that he had previously introduced legislation in Congress called the Life at Conception Act that would have declared human life begins the moment of conception. Therefore, immediately after conception, an unborn person would have all the constitutional protections afforded to adults.

Rand then said:

  • “I think, and I often say in my speeches, that I don’t think a civilization can long endure that doesn’t respect the rights of the unborn.”

According to medterms.com, conception occurs with the union of the man’s sperm and the woman’s ovum, which normally takes place during sexual intercourse.

If a sperm and ovum joined together at 11:55 pm on December 31, 2013 would the parents be able to deduct the unborn child on their federal and state income tax returns? If not, then wouldn’t that be a constitutional violation of the parents rights to equal protection under the law?
