Today’s “Moron” Award Winner

 Since graduating from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Jimmy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. Put simply, if it wasn’t for government paychecks, Jimmy would likely have been relegated to employment as a greeter at a Walmart store in the greater Detroit area.

In 2007, Jimmy duped the voters in Warren (suburb of Detroit) into electing him as their Mayor. Beginning in 2009, Jimmy allowed “prayer stations” operated by a local church group that distributes religious pamphlets, discusses religious beliefs with passersby, and prays with visitors to the city hall. However, when Freedom From Religion (atheist organization) member Douglas Marshall submitted an application to city officials in April to set up a similar, yet secular, station for two days each week, it took Jimmy less than two weeks to reject his proposal.

In rejecting Mr. Marshall’s application, Jimmy compared Marshall and his atheist group to the Nazi party and the Ku Klux Klan. Jimmy went on to laughingly state that the city had values that he didn’t believe were in general agreement with having an atheist station. In Jimmy’s asinine rejection letter to Mr. Marshall, he said in part:

The intent of Marshall’s station was to “deprive all organized religions of their constitutional freedoms or at least discourage the practice of religion.” The city of Warren cannot allow this to happen.

Prayer stations help citizens “seek solace or guidance.” Marshall’s station won’t “contribute to community values or help an individual out.”

Subsequently, the ACLU, along with Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Freedom From Religion Foundation, filed a lawsuit against Fouts and the city of Warren Wednesday claiming the mayor’s rejection violated Mr. Marshall’s First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Unbelievably, the vast majority of the time Jimmy spent porking out at the public trough came about when he was teaching government and psychology in the Warren Consolidated School District. Apparently, Jimmy’s government textbooks did not make any reference of any kind to the First Amendment.

The sad part of this story is the fact that the hardworking folks in Warren are going to have to pay tens-of-thousands of dollars or more to defend Jimmy’s willingness to trample on Mr. Marshall’s First Amendment Rights.

Congrats Jimmy; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Accomplished “Morons”; you are far too humble.
