Attorney Henry Baskin of Birmingham, MI; ethical dwarf

The state of Ohio presented Henry Baskin with a law license in 1958 after he graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School.

The Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission found Hank guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Hank was involved in a personal relationship with client Linda Olson during divorce proceedings against John Olson, founder and CEO of J.M. Olson Corp., which closed it s doors in 2008.

Hank obtained an award of more than $50,000 in monthly alimony for Ms. Olson, plus a $2.1 million home in Gross Pointe Farms.

In a lame attempt at levity, Hank said his relationship with Ms. Olson in and of itself did not create a conflict of interest. Obviously, Hank needs a refresher course on what constitutes a “conflict of interest.” Apparently, Hank is of the opinion that it’s acceptable to represent a client and screw her at the same time.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme Court punished Hank by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2014), Hank practices with The Baskin Law Firm PC at 355 South Old Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit.
