Judge Emil Giordano of Northampton, PA; nepotistic loser

The state of Pennsylvania presented a law license to Emiddio “Emil” Giordano in 1986 after he graduated from Villanova University Law School.

In November 2003, Emil duped the voters in Northampton County into election as a Common Please Judge.

Emil finds it acceptable to employ his mother-in-law, Anna Goldfeder as a part-time employee for the court as a gopher. Anna’s job is track down errant attorneys, point jurors to the bathrooms and cafeteria, and lead witnesses to the stand. In addition to a salary of $22,389 a year, Anna also received the benefits provided to full-time employees such as health insurance, 13 paid holidays, sick days, 2-week vacation, and pension benefits.

The so-called Code of Judicial Conduct states that judges should make appointments “only on the basis of merit, avoiding favoritism.” It would be laughable for Emil to argue that his appointment of his mother-in-law wasn’t based on favoritism. Even more laughable is the fact that the comedians sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court have determined that hiring family members doesn’t constitute “favoritism.”

Because Surpeme Court Justices, Court of Appeal Judges and Common Pleas Judges in Pennsylvania are held to a lower standard of conduct, they have refused to apply rules imposed on local district judges who are explicitly prohibited from engaging in “nepotism.”

It is a total farce that the taxpayers are forced to cough up nearly $30,000 for Emil to suck up to his mother-in-law Anna.

It is indeed a sorry state of affairs when someone of Emil’s ilk is allowed to sit in judgment of others given his propensity for violating the rules by engaging in nepotistic behavior.

As we speak (ca. July 2014), Emil continues to sit as a Northampton County Common Pleas Judge in Northampton, Pennsylvania.
