Attorney Jon Rice of Hibbing, MN; serial offender

The state of Minnesota presented Jon D. Rice with a law license in 1959 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation Jon guilty of the following misconduct.

  1. Improperly entered into a business transaction with client
  2. Failed to obtain client’s informed consent prior to entering into business transaction
  3. Charged an unreasonable fee (cheater)
  4. Failed to provide competent representation (Idiot)
  5. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  6. Failed to refund unearned fees

As one would suspect, this isn’t Jon’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received three (3) complimentary admonitions and two (2) terms of probation for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Jon by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year term of probation.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Jon.

As we speak (June 2014), Jon practices with the Stockman Law Office at 5 North 3rd Avenue in Duluth, Minnesota.
