State Sen. Phillip Puckett (D-VA): Today’s Moron Award Winner

Congratulations to….

State Sen. Phillip Puckett (D-VA)

Today’s Moron Award Winner

In November 1997, Phil duped the voters in Russell County into electing him as a member of the Virginia Senate.

The vast majority of GOP members of the Virginia House and Senate are die-in-the-wool Obama haters who are willing to sacrifice their own constituents in order to keep Obamacare from providing health care to low income Virginians.

Since the Senate was evenly split with 20 GOP and Democratic members, and with the Lt. Governor casting the tie breaking vote as a Democrat, the right wing zealots in the GOP knew they had no chance of stopping the Governor from adopting Medicaid expansion for over 400,000 uninsured Virginians.

In an overt and outrageous grab at power, the GOP bribed Phil by offering him a six figure job on the Tobacco Commission along with a judgeship for his loser daughter if Phil would merely resign his seat in the senate.

Of course being the greedy loser that he is, Phil immediately jumped on the offer to financially enrich himself and his daughter at the expense of his constituents.

Put simply, Phil was offered a bribe that provided him with a job along with his daughter, which he cheerfully accepted.

The only question that remains is to see if Phil be criminally prosecute d for accepting the bribe and will t hose who offered the bribe also be prosecuted.

Personally, I don’t think any public official should be prosecuted for bribery. However, I do think they should be subjected to a civil lawsuit since acceptance of a bribe can only be construed as a due process violation for the party that was never offered the opportunity to trump the original bribe.

In other words, interested Democrats in Virginia were denied their due process rights when they were not given the opportunity make a monetary offer to Phil greater than that offered by the GOP.

Congrats Phil; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Morons”; you are far too humble.
