Attorney Michael Mills of Wilmington, NC; convicted shoplifter

The state of North Carolina presented Michael T. Mills with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

When applying for a license to practice law in North Carolina, Mike was required to disclose any instance wherein he had been arrested, or taken into custody or accused, formally or informally, of the violation of a law.

Mike failed to list a misdemeanor charge of resisting/obstructing a public officer which was later dismissed, and a misdemeanor charge  of hindering and delaying a public officer to which he pleaded “no contest. “

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Mike.

During a visit at the Hudson Belk Store in Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, Mike was cited for misdemeanor larceny for stealing a camisole worth $19.00.

The Grievance Committee ruled that Mike testified falsely to a material fact  [perjury] at the criminal trial and also did the same thing while testifying at the disciplinary hearing.

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Michael continues to practice in the Wilmington, North Carolina area.
