Attorney Leroy Castle of Durham, NC; serial offender

 

The state of North Carolina presented Leroy R. Castle with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University Law School. 

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Leroy Mike guilty of the following the following misconduct.

 

Leroy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to act with due diligence
  2. Failed to provide competent representation
  3. Failed to comply with rules for appointed counsel for indigent defendant
  4. Failed to respond to repeated calls from client
  5. Never filed required motion to withdraw as client’s attorney
  6. Negligence led to client losing right to appeal
  7. Misconduct involved multiple violations of the rules

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Leroy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

 

Leroy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

After a former client (victim) notified the State Bar that he was disputing Leroy’s claim for fees, Leroy was obligated to participate in the Bar’s fee dispute program. However, Leroy failed to do so even though State Bar Rules mandated that he so act.

 

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Leroy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. 

 

Leroy’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to respond to client’s phone calls

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Leroy by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand. 

 

Leroy’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Leroy!)
  2. Failed to properly supervise associate attorney
  3. Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  4. Failed to respond to repeated calls from client
  5. Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  6. Ignored bar investigator’s subpoena
  7. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  8. Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  9. Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of conduct

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Leroy by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.
