In December 2007, Tommy succeeded in duping the voters in the Shreveport area into electing him as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.

In early 2014, Tommy introduced legislation in the House naming the Christian Bible as the official state book in Louisiana.

Tommy’s original legislation would have designated a specific edtion of the Bible which is held by the Louisiana State Museum as the official state book; however, the proposed law was amended by Tommy’s fellow comedians in the house to include all editions of the Holy Bible.

In early April 2014, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that many Louisiana residents were “shocked, embarrassed and concerned about their image nationally” in regards to the passage of Tommy’s asinine legislation by the House Committee.

One commenter said, “The entire country is laughing at us.” Another said:

• “There are already plenty of professional organizations, etc. that think twice about holding conferences in New Orleans due to ridiculousness like this.”
• “Eventually they’ll stop coming, and we will all be able to thank the state legislature for the lost revenue and our well-deserved reputation.”

Maybe Tommy and his fellow comics in the Louisiana Statehouse should consider passing legislation mandating that all new car dealers be required to place a copy of each Christian Bible in the glove compartment of each new car they sell.

Hopefully the voters in Shreveport will tell Tommy to take a hike if he has the audacity to run again. And if he’s defeated, Tommy should have any trouble finding a job at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Shreveport. And if that doesn’t pan out, he should be able to get hired as a Greeter at the Walmart Supercenter on Mansfield Road in Shreveport.

Congrats Tommy; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Standup Comedians”; you are far too humble.
