Rep. James Moran (D-VA): “Ingrate” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Rep. James Moran (D-VA)

Today’s “Ingrate” Award Winner

Since he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970, Jimmy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for 45 years as set forth below.

  1. 1970 – 1975 – US Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare
  2. 1976 – 1979 – Staff member US Senate Committee on Appropriations
  3. 1979 – 1981 – Alexandria City Council
  4. 1982 – 1984 – Alexandria Vice Mayor
  5. 1985 – 1990 – Alexandria Mayor
  6. 1991 – 2014 – US Congress

During a recent (04/13/14) interview with Roll Call, Jimmy complained that members of congress were underpaid despite the fact that most of them are millionaires. Jimmy said in part:

“I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.”

“I understand that it’s widely felt that they underperform, but the fact is that this is the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world.”

Jimmy went on to whine that some members sleep in their offices or in “small little apartment units” when they’re in D.C. Jimmy continued on by saying:

“A lot of members can’t even afford to live decently in Washington.”

In addition to his $164,000 annual salary, Jimmy also earned an additional $43,000 as shown below, which means he earned over $200,000 in 2013.

  1. $25,000 – Rental income in Salem, Virginia
  2. $  7,500 – Partnership income Stonegate Swim Club
  3. $11,000 – Hartford Leaders Plus IRA required distribution

Jimmy’s laughable claim that he is or was underpaid, begs the question as to why he didn’t stop ingesting public pork many, many years ago.

For Jimmy to whine that he and members of Congress are underpaid is akin to Kobe Bryant claiming he is underpaid even though his annual salary as a L.A. Laker is $27.9 million.

Congrats Jimmy; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Ingrates”; you are far too humble.
