Attorney Kwame Mumina of Oklahoma City; convict, thief

The state of Oklahoma presented Kwame Telli Mumina with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School.

The Oklahoma Bar Association found Kwame guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Kwame was indicted on twenty (20) counts relating to his actions as trustee of a bankruptcy estate. Nineteen (19) of those counts involved his illegal use of over $100,000 of bankruptcy funds for his own personal purposes.

In addition, Kwame misappropriated (stole) about $50,000 in fees that belonged to the law firm that employed him.

Subsequently, Kwame entered into an agreement dismissing those counts and pled guilty to the single remaining charge of filing a false report in the bankruptcy proceedings.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Oklahoma Supreme Court accepted Kwame’s resignation of his law license.

Unbelievably, several years later the comedians sitting on the Oklahoma Supreme Court reinstated Kwame’s law license. Apparently, they felt he had a right to earn a dishonest living as a practicing attorney.

As we speak (ca. April 2014) Kwame practices at 400 North Walker Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
